01

Opening

Establish the sibling relationship with gentle humor.

I am [Brother]'s sibling, which means I knew him before he had a reliable haircut or a reliable opinion about anything. I also knew him before [Partner], although I can safely say that version of his life had much worse snacks and considerably fewer useful calendars.

Say it: Look up before you begin and take one steady breath.

02

Childhood memory

Show loyalty in a recognizable childhood scene.

When we were children, [Brother] was always faster on his bicycle. He would disappear around a corner, and I would pedal after him, angry at the injustice of having shorter legs. But he always came back. Sometimes he pretended he had forgotten something. Sometimes he said he needed water. Whatever excuse he used, we finished the ride together.

Say it: Slow slightly at 'But he always came back.'

03

The adult version

Connect childhood loyalty to the adult and to the couple.

As we grew up, that same instinct remained. He checks whether people got home. He notices when someone at the table has gone quiet. He will give you a hard time about your choices, then help you carry the consequences. Seeing him with [Partner], I recognize that old loyalty, and I also see a new ease. They do not have to perform for each other. They can be honest, tired, ridiculous, and fully themselves.

Say it: Let the praise sound like a conversation; look toward the person or people you are honoring.

04

Closing

Use the ride as a warm image for the marriage ahead.

[Partner], I am grateful that my brother has someone who makes him feel both understood and encouraged. [Brother], I am proud of the life you are building. May you keep looking back to check on each other, keep choosing the same direction, and remember that arriving together matters more than arriving first. To [Brother] and [Partner], and to every ride still ahead.

Say it: Look toward the couple on 'arriving together' and let the final wish settle.
